First Real Face Painting

We just had a really fun night at Tyler's work BBQ. They had a nice dinner and then they had face painting for the kids and a candy throw. Scott was so excited to get his face painted. He chose a yellow and red warrior mask. The painter lady was super talented and she did a great job. When she held the mirror up at the end Scotty was speechless. I think he thought he looked cooler than he had ever before looked. He was so proud of his face. Mike was a little shy about it but he eventually let her paint him to be the incredible Hulk. He looked cool too. He did lick it a little when she was trying to paint a big mouth on him. But he still looked cool. And he was proud to look like hulk too. He went around and growled at everyone, and they all pretended to be scared. I'm glad that my husband spends his days with such nice people. They seam like a great bunch to work for :) Here are the pictures of their cool masks:

The only problem was that it was practically bed time when they got their faces painted. Because it came off so easily I didn't want it getting all over their beds. Mike was OK to get it washed off. But it was like I was taking away Scotty's best friend. He cried for like a half an hour about how I ruined his life and that he wasn't cool any more. It made me doubt. Maybe I could have cleaned it out of his sheets. The only way that I got him to settle down was I printed him a picture of himself so he could snuggle with it. He did let me know that he was still very upset but he could live with it as long as I promised that we would get his face painted again. Hopefully they will have face painting on Canada day and I hope that we can get it done early enough in the day that it will wear off by itself:)

We did get the car started.

So sorry I should have wrote that we got the car started. Still not sure what was wrong with it but we unplugged the battery from the car. Then let it sit for 10 minutes. Hooked up the same battery, and it magically started :) And Tyler took us out for dinner :)

Strawberry Picking

The boys had a great time picking strawberries:) I really didn't know how much fun picking strawberries could be. They were so excited to be able to pick so many strawberries at once.We were actually able to pick 6 pounds before they both were done picking.

They kept talking to all the others picking. Saying: "look how many strawberries I picked." And we got to ride down to the field on a golf cart which was a lot of fun too.

This is Mike dancing with the first strawberry he ate that day!! They were in love.He was in little Mikey heaven.

Before bed that night Scotty said that he had so much fun and that he really wanted to go again. Too bad that the season is almost over. But the best thing about summer is all the fruit!! I think this is our healthiest time of year. I don't know what fruit will be ready next but I do know that we'll be there:)

Changed Plans

So today I had the day planned. Going to urgent care in the morning to get a referral to get a Dr.. Then Strawberry picking followed by visiting teaching in the late afternoon. Unfortunately, that is not how it turned out. We went to urgent care but after the quick visit with the dr. the car wouldn't start. Don't know why, it was just dead. I don't understand cars when it can be working fine forever then you just jump in and... nothing. So what do you do? We did have a small umbrella stroller in the trunk so we set out for home. Mike actually walked about half the way. Scotty didn't really feel like walking but he did walk a few blocks when Mike couldn't walk any farther. We made it to a Mc Donalds about two thirds of the way home. We stopped for a bite to eat and got something to drink :) To make it the rest of the way home I had put my purse over the stroller handles and Mike sat on it like a swing. Another reason for a woman to carry a big purse!! I thought it was so funny. The boys were pretty happy as long as Scotty didn't lean his head back on Mike's arms. It was some good exercise. About an hour of walking. We will just have to figure out what to do with the car when Tyler gets home from work. I have faith that we will just go back and it will start. I really don't know why it didn't start before. Hopefully it will all work out.

So now That we are home all day with no plans I am so bored. I can't take it. I'm going crazy. I told Mikey's teacher that I would make them some painting smocks for their class, and I really should spend the day working on that, but I feel too sick to do it. I need something exciting to do.

The best thing I could come up with is blogging about how big the jungle garden is getting. Here is the picture:

You can't even see the tomato cages any more.
The cucumbers are taking over. They are everywhere.

I think that is a baby cucumber. Not really sure but it's something.

Tomatoes are coming in. These are a big kind of tomato, We have a bunch of cherry tomatoes that have been big like this for about a month, but they are still green. We have a pumpkin plant that has no pumpkins yet. My sister already has big pumpkins so I feel sad about that. There are no peppers or zucchini yet. I don't if I need to do something to make it work. Everything else is doing well.

There is a cherry tree right along the fence line. I want to make cherry pie and cherry jam!! I can't wait for that either!! I think that's all I got for today. Time to make dinner.

Party Time

So in the end Scotty's party was a lot of fun. I think all the kids were happy at certain moments throughout the event. I didn't get too many pictures because directing 3 and 4 year old children can be a lot of work. I planned a lot of games to test their super strength and prepare them to be super heroes. There was a bean bag toss, races, and an obstacle course. Then we had cake. And opened presents. He got a ton of really fun gifts. I loved the most that they were all very thoughtful gifts. All things that he really loved. He is lucky to have such good friends that got him cool gifts. Thanks to all. After that we headed outside to break the pinata. I think that was the most fun part. They each had two turns and nothing really happened to the monster, But Tyler was able to get him with just two hits. It is funny when all the kids are smaller. They were picking up candy for like 5 minutes. Carefully looking at each piece and slowly figuring out how to put it in the bag. Usually there is such a mad dash for it all and it is all up in 30 seconds. So that was nice too. My friend was able to take some pictures during the pinata I was able to sit and relax. That was so nice. Thanks Heather!!

Mike is really passionate about everything he does. I love his look of concentration on his face. The boys play super hero all the time and Mike really does think that he is iron man!!

My only regret is that I didn't get a group shot of everyone in their super hero costumes. I really should have done that. It would have been really cute.

All in all I have to say it was a successful day. At church the next day I heard how all the kids really loved their capes and all the cute stories that went along with their imaginative play. I felt really good that they liked them. And that is was over and I could go take a nap;)

Scotty's Graduation

I love whenever Scotty has his shows at school. He is so cute and I just beam from ear to ear. It makes me so happy. He got to wear a little graduation cap, and the preschool gave the kids little shirts. We got to watch them walk in and find their chairs. Then the show started. Unfortunately at that same moment we found out that Mike who is very good at pooping in the potty. Had pooped his pants. And because I am so not use to it. I had to run out to the car to get a new pull-up. Luckily there were wipes in the car, or I would have had a super huge problem.

They sang He got the whole world in his hand and twinkle twinkle. With full hand actions. And he was singing like an angle. He was so wonderful. Not all the kids were singing and Scott was singing so I could hear him in the back row. But not yelling like at the Christmas concert. He was definitely the star of the show:)  By them Mikey was putting up a big fuss and needed to be changed right then. I thought it's OK Tyler is recording it I even looked into the screen to make sure that he was zoomed in right in him. I ran to the car and got Mike all cleaned up and got back right at the end of the show. Then Tyler says I don't think I was recording it.... I was like WHAT. In all fairness he doesn't really ever use the camera. And he accidentally pushed the button twice. It really could happen to anyone. But still I was so sad. :( I didn't even get to see it. But oh well. He was wonderful. I know it and so cute and he sang some songs for me when he got home. I'll just have to remember how cute he was in those first two songs and save it in my long term memory...

Here is my big boy at our first of many graduations:)

I can't wait until Mike's Show next year!!! All I can say is Good luck Teacher Kim and Miss Kim!!

Maybe Next Year

So I had a really hard time with the cake. It always seams that I really mess up Scott's birthday cake. (Except for his second birthday I made him this dinosaur cake and it was so cool.) But yeah every other cake needed work. I have such high hopes of making this amazing cake. I watched my marathon of cake boss to get in the mood then it ends up looking like this:

So I'm not a professional. I have such high hopes of being a super mom to go with my super boys. Oh well. I Good thing he is only going to be four. Scott loves me anyways and I just know that he will like the cake. He's such a sweet boy:) Maybe after this one I'll start buying cakes.

Last Day of School...

Sadly it is Scott's last day of preschool. He had a really fun time there. And I am sure that he is going to miss all his friends. We made this cute craft as a thank you gift for his teachers.  It says: Thanks for helping me grow. He actually did most of it himself. He painted the blue and the yellow on the pot. Mikey painted the green because Scott didn't want to do it. But then he changed his mind and he put the flowers on. I cut up a sponge into a tulip and a daisy and he loved stamping them on. I tried to let him write the message around the top but he messed up a little and he was getting a little stressed about it. I think he may be a future perfectionist. We went to home depot the next day and he picked out the flowers and planted them. I think it turned out pretty cute. I like it the most because it was from Scott.

He is so excited about his big boy school next year. He is going to King Edward Elementary which is right at the end of our street.  We have gone there a few times to get him excited about it and he IS. He talks about it all the time. It will be scary that he will be gone all day long 5 days a week but I really think he will love it. They had an information night where we got to go meet his future teacher. There are going to be four classes and all the teachers are exactly what you want a kindergartner teacher to be. I feel comfortable leaving my baby with them and I just know that he is going to learn so much.  Today as we were driving he was looking at all the signs along the road side. he told me, You know what mom a S and a H together make a sh sound. I can't believe that he is learning and growing so fast. I can't wait till he is a full time reader.

Piniata's Done

We did have a fun time making the pinata. Not sure if it will be a new family tradition because it took so long to do with all the drying time but it was still cool to make. Here is a picture of the boys painting. They love anything that has paint on it.

Scotty was playing computer games so he didn't want to help with the tissue, but it was definitely Mikey's favorite part. He was so cute. Each time he would go to do it he would say all the steps. One square at a time. Crinkle it. and then stick it on. He was doing so great. He's is such a cute little helper.

Here he is all done. Scott named him clumsy. One of his favorite bed time books has,  "Clumsy green the biggest feet you ever seen," so I thought it was so cute that he thought of that story. He is trying to eat Scott in this picture.

Lastly they are all growling at you!!

So I am a little nervous that it wont brake open, or that it might fall apart. Hopefully it will break open tomorrow right as the last child takes a swing.

I don't get it :(

So I'm pregnant and I need a Dr. I already have questions about a lot of different things that are happening. I had a miscarriage and I am worried about a lot of things. So how do you do it in Canada? All the sites you type in your information and expect to have Dr.'s available but there are NONE. I guess I can open the yellow pages and just cold call different Dr.'s all day? Is this how it is done. And as I understand it, you don't choose a Dr. you have one assigned when you are pregnant so how do you get on that list?

The boys and I often go to urgent care because their pediatrician never has any openings that day. Is this what you are suppose to do, or am I messing up the system? I just want a good family Dr. that actually know what to do with kids. Is that possible in this country or am I just out of luck?

I am just ignorant. I'm not trying to be rude. I just want to know if my baby is ok. Should I go to an urgent care??? I just don't get it. I want to call an OBGYN.

WE'RE PREGNANT

So maybe I am posting a little early but we are excited!! We have been trying for a long time and I finally have a baby in my tummy:) According to the internet the baby will be due Feb. 6th!! Scotty and Mikey are really excited. Scott always does special things to take care of me. When I tell him that I'm tired he tells me that it's ok and that I need to take a nap. He will rub my head and rub my tummy to to talk to the baby. We had pancakes this morning and Mikey kept giving me some of his pancake strips and saying Mom I want to share this with the baby and he would insist that I take it. So yeah they are so loving and excited for the baby to come.

Field Trip Day!!

The boys and I were really excited about going to a butterfly museum yesterday. We went into the museum and I turned on the camera to take a picture of a Blue Morpho Butterfly. (We already knew what kind it was because we saw it in an episode of Diego.) It opened the wings and we were ready to take the picture but there was no click from the camera. It had run out of batteries and I was so sad. I was thinking about charging it earlier that day too. Here is a picture of what it looked like. One actually landed on my leg and it wouldn't come off. I had to get the butterfly man to pull it off because I didn't want to hurt it.

But We had a great time. They also had animals there. We got to see goats. llamas, sheep and baby sheep, Chickens, roosters, a bunny, and a guinea pig.  They also let the boys plant a flower. Scotty loved to do it. He carried his flower around all day:) He only dropped it inside one time. Tyler was wondering why there was dirt on the basement floor. oops!

They must really love their flowers because they are both smiling in the same picture!!

My Mikey

Because I just put up all those posts and not a single picture of Mikey I thought I should just put up some cute pictures of him. He is to the age where he really likes to pose:)  We just are so glad that he is a part of our family.

OK and just one more of Scott
My boy's are so handsome!! I just love them both so much!!!

Getting ready for Scott's Birthday Party

We have been working on some things to have the funnest birthday party ever for Scott. We got the invitations out and some people have RSVP-ed so it's time to really get going. Yesterday we decided that we wanted to make a pinata. Because it is going to be a superhero party we decided to make a monster so the heroes could defeat him and save the world. We started with this:

And this is the first time I have ever tried this. So I have no idea what I am doing. I looked up a bunch of how to videos online and they said to use starch or plaster of paris. BUT, I have heard that you can use flour and water. That's what we had in the house, so that's what we used.  We made a goopy paste and just went for it.

It was harder then I thought it would be. Even though we had in balanced on a bowl. It kept rolling of and all over the place. But We ended up with this:

and this mess:

Scott did get a little bored and started rubbing his hands all over the table. But oh well messes are a big part of life:) Only two more coats of paper and we get to paint!! We cant wait.

Also for the party I though it would be really awesome if the kids could dress up like super heroes so I decided to make capes for them. They turned out really well so I want to share a picture!

I am also going to make eye masks so they don't spoil their secret identity!! And the first activity of the party is we are going to make wrist bands. The kids will get to pick out their special ability and put it on the cuffs to show their power!! I can't wait. I hope it all turns out like planned and the kids have a lot of fun.

And Scott said the funniest thing today so I should write it down. He said," Actually mom were not having a party, we're having a fiesta because there is a pinata."

Backyard Friends

Our little garden attracted a big friend:)

We were really scared to touch it but I did put the empty flower pot in front of it and it jumped in. It's skin was really warty. It was really gross to look at close up. But Mike and Scott loved him. He has already been back to visit one time, but he lives with his family the rest of the time.

We also found this:
The boys wanted to put it in their insect keeper and bring it in my house. Yuck!! I did have to put my foot down there.

And we find a lot of caterpillars. The first one we found we watched it spin a web thing. It was so interesting to watch. Sadly two days later it was gone. We think a bird must have eaten him. We caught two other caterpillars and kept them in a little insect keeper. They didn't eat anything and we put in every kind of leaf that we could think of. Eventually we left them outside in a rain storm and they died. Poor Fluffly and Devil Damsel. They had a hard life. Scott was so sad. But hopefully he will give up his fascination with the poor bugs outside. Our track record is terrible. Good thing we don't have any real pets.

Our Garden Today

Because I should have started blogging a few weeks ago I already have an updated garden picture:)

Some of the tomatoes are almost to the top of their cages and all of the plants have tomato flowers. The cucumbers are climbing over the side. There are little carrot seeds sprouting. We gave up on the celery seeds and bought some big ones at the farmers market. The pepper is bigger. The zucchini has a lot of buds. We have eaten strawberries. The broccoli has baby broccoli in the middle. Three of the pea seeds sprouted and they are growing quickly each day. Nothing from the green beans (even though most elementary school kids can grow them with a wet napkin and a plastic bag).  We planted some green onions that we bought from the grocery store and they have already doubled in size. And the cauliflower is DEAD :(

But we did plant some cauliflower seeds and they are coming up. So there is hope for tomorrow.

I think that I killed them by over watering them. What would happen was that they were wilting so I watered them. By the end of the day they would come back and look alive and happy so I thought that was working.  I watered everything in the garden every day. I didn't care that the label said 2-3 times per week. I thought it would be better if they got a lot of water. Until I was talking to my super cool gardening sister. I told her that my stinking cauliflower kept wilting and I didn't know what to do with them. She asked it the leaves were yellow and at that point they weren't. She told me that they were over watered.

She then told me that I should only water the garden when it is dry one inch deep. So before I can water it needs to be really dry or the roots won't grow very deep and the plant wont be very strong.  Totally didn't know that. I haven't even water it again yet. To bad that it has been raining every day a lot since then. Ooops!

Hopefully nothing else will die and it will be a good lesson learned:)

Our Little Garden

So for a very very long time I wave wanted to plant a garden. Because my husband is in school we tend to move most Aprils which is just the time that I would be planting. So this year we didn't move anywhere for the summer and we finally got to garden!! Woo Hoo!!

So the sad thing is that our backyard is pretty small and there is a giant tree that shades most of the backyard. But there is a small area in the side yard that gets a few hours of morning sun so we decided to give it a go.

The boys and I first visited Home Depot and got three 1x12x8 pieces of wood some L brackets and some screws. We had them cut one of the boards in half so we were able to make a 4x8 raised garden box. It was really easy. We also got 10 bags of dirt.

That Saturday the city was giving out free compost so we dumped out all our toy buckets and brought them to the dump and filled them with dirt. The dirt was heavy but it was free so were very excited to get it home and out in our new garden spot.

The next day we the boys and I went back to Home Depot and got some plants:) Scotty was so excited to do the planting. Mikey got board halfway through (He's only two so we can forgive him).

Scotty was so excited about the cucumbers!! We also planted tomatoes, green beans, sugar snap peas, broccoli, cauliflower, strawberries, zucchini, a bell pepper, and some celery.  We did cheat a little because we had just visited my sister Holly in sunny Arizona and she gave us a pumpkin plant and two pretty big cherry tomato plants. They already had some tiny tiny tomatoes growing. She also gave us three yellow cucumber plants but we killed them. They didn't like the cold Canada weather. Luckily every single cucumber seed that we planted sprouted. So I think we'll be covered in the cucumber department.

I hope this works.

About three weeks ago I was teaching the young women at my church about how it is so important that they write in their journals. We made a goal that that week we would write in a journal at least one a week. Again now three weeks later I decided to stop being a hypocrite and write something down about my life. I thought it would be cool to enter the world of blogging so that I could include pictures with our stories and easily share with family and friends.

So I have no idea what I'm doing but I'm sure I can figure out this blogging thing. Hopefully this will post properly.
